Dental Impression tray Dentulous Non-Perforated is used to take a negative imprint of hard (teeth) and soft tissues in the mouth from which a positive reproduction (cast or model) can be formed. Impression material is of liquid or semi-solid nature when first mixed and placed in the mouth. It then sets to become an elastic solid (usually takes a few minutes depending upon the material), leaving an imprint of person's dentition and surrounding structures of the oral cavity.
The Impression Trays are of 2 main types:

Dentulous: These are trays that are used to take impressions of people with teeth or of a dentulous mouth.
Edentulous: These are trays that are used to take impressions in an edentulous mouth or a patient without teeth.

They are again divided into two types, based on the presence of perforations in them:

Perforated: There are small perforations or holes in the tray.
Non-Perforated: There are no perforations in the trays as they are used to carry impression materials that are not rigid Ex. Alginate.
For recording impressions in dentulous patients for the fabrication of dentures.

Prepare the tray: Ensure the tray is clean and free from any debris or residue. If necessary, sterilize the tray according to recommended protocols.
Prepare the impression material: Select the appropriate impression material as per the dentist's recommendation.
Seat the tray: Seat the lower arch tray in the patient's mouth, ensuring proper alignment and stability. Position the tray so that it covers the entire lower arch, from one side of the mouth to the other.
Load the tray: Load the mixed impression material onto the tray using a suitable instrument, ensuring that the material is evenly distributed and covers all the necessary areas of the lower arch.
Insert the tray: Ask the patient to close their mouth gently but firmly, allowing the impression material to flow and adapt to the teeth and tissues. Make sure the tray remains stable and properly seated during this process.
Maintain stability: Maintain stability of the tray for the recommended setting time of the impression material. This allows the material to be set properly and capture an accurate impression of the lower arch.
Remove the tray: Once the impression material has been set, carefully and gently remove the tray from the patient's mouth. Use slow and controlled motions to minimize any potential distortion or damage to the impression.
Inspect the impression: Inspect the impression to ensure it is clear and accurate, and captures all the necessary details of the lower arch. If any areas appear incomplete or compromised, consider retaking the impression.
Clean and disinfect the tray: After removing the impression material, thoroughly clean and disinfect the tray using appropriate protocols and recommended solutions. Ensure the tray is completely dry before storage.
